Friday 10 October 2025 Y5 Harvest Service - Oct 2025 Well done to Indigo Class for presenting your Harvest Service so well this morning at St. Mary's. It was lovely to hear the stories reminding us of the importance of this time of year in the church calendar. Tuesday 30 September 2025 Y4 trip to Brighton Museum - Sep 2025 Year 4 had a great day today at Brighton Museum where they got to handle real Egyptian artifacts and studied other artifacts in the two Egyptian galleries at Brighton Museum. The children also got to play the role of trainee High Priest Embalmers as they took part in the mummification process in full detail! Photos below.

Wednesday 17 September 2025 Y6 - Weald and Downland Museum - Sep 2025 Year 6 visited the Weald and Downland Museum today as part of their Tudor Topic. They visited the Winkhurst Tudor Kitchen, Bayleaf Farmstead, Cowfold Barn and Pendean Farmhouse, which was one of the first homes to have proper chimneys in 1586. The children had lots of fun finding out about life in the Tudor times and just how hard life was. Lots of positive comments by volunteers about how polite and well mannered the children were too. We even managed to dodge the rain! Photos below.

Tuesday 22 July 2025 Mrs Plater & Mr Illsley Farewell Assembly - July 2025 Yesterday we had a farewell assembly for Mrs Plater and Mr Illsley. For Mrs Plater, it is a temporary 'farewell' as she goes on maternity leave before having a baby in the not too distant future! We will see Mrs Plater again when she returns from maternity leave. Mr Illsley has been an absolutely fantastic L.S.A. in Year 5 and he is leaving us for pastures new as he embarks on a career in the Navy, after travelling around Europe for a while.

Friday 18 July 2025 Mrs Brockhurst's Farewell Assembly - July 2025 We shared a poignant, emotional final VIP assembly of the year today for the Very Important Person that is Mrs Brockhurst who has been our Headteacher for 11 years! The children from each class paid tribute to Mrs Brockhurst with lovely messages and cards. It was then the turn of Mrs Brockhurst to offer gifts for all the classes and a new school bell with our school motto, "The Joy, The Journey, The Learning" inscribed on the bell! A lovely way for the children to begin their goodbyes for a lovely Headteacher! Photos below.

Thursday 17 July 2025 Y5 Greek Day - July 2025 Indigo Class packed a lot into their Greek day yesterday! A mini-Olympics took place, alongside learning how to write their names in Greek. Also, the children played a Greek Gods themed game of 'corners;, made laurel wreaths, created board games and Greek top trumps, designed a new Greek flag and managed to perform a Greek dance - all in one day! Tuesday 15 July 2025 A visit from the Police! - July 2025 Many thanks to Detective Sergeant Turner, Police Sergeant Miles (both parents of children at our school) and Police Constable Sibun for visiting our school yesterday. PC Sibun spoke to Y6 about staying safe online and other aspects of their journey into secondary school life where the children will become more independent.

Friday 4 July 2025 Sports Day 2025 A massive well done to Yellow Team for winning Sports Day 2025! Thank you to Mrs Plater for organising such a superb Sports Day this year with KS1 in the morning and KS2 in the afternoon, culminating in such a magnificently close whole school relay race! It was lovely to see all the support from parents/carers/grandparents - sport was most definitely the winner...and Yellow Team! Photos below.

Tuesday 1 July 2025 Girls' Tag Rugby Festival - July 2025 A selection of Y4 girls had a great afternoon at Bognor Rugby Club developing their tag-rugby skills. They then played some friendly non-competitive short games against some of the other schools at the rugby festival - all in anticipation of the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 coming to our country later in the summer! Saturday 28 June 2025 School Choir - Abbey Dean Care Home Performance - June 2025 Well done to our amazing choir for supporting our local community so well at the Abbey Dean Care Home Summer Fair this afternoon in somewhat hot conditions! You sang really well to all the residents, guests, friends and families who attended. Thank you to Charlotte, the school's choir leader, for coaching the children to sing so well and encouraging the children to memorise all those words for the songs! Friday 27 June 2025 Y4 - Japan Day - June 2025 What a fantastic day Y4 had today with their 'Japan Day' celebrating the culture of such an amazing country! Many thanks to Kumiko-san, Masako-san, Yumiko-san and Kiyo-san from an organisation called 'Japan In Your Classroom' for coming in this morning and facilitating lots of great activities for the children in Blue Class.

Monday 23 June 2025 Y6 Chichester Cathedral - Leavers' Service - June 2025 Well done to Violet Class for looking so smart and participating in the lovely Diocesan Leavers' Service at Chichester Cathedral this afternoon. It is always a beautiful service as many Y6 children from across the Diocese come together to celebrate their Primary School life and to look forward to the years ahead.

Sunday 22 June 2025 National Schools Sports Week - June 2025 We had a brilliant week last week celebrating the power of sport with lots of extra sporting endeavours and activities during 'National School Sports Week'. This culminated in our 'Sports Activity Afternoon' on Friday when the children competed in their colour teams in a range of different sporting skills.

Tuesday 17 June 2025 Cricket Tournament - June 2025 A massive well done to our cricket team who took part in a cricket tournament today in the beautiful setting of Arundel Castle Cricket Ground. Our team did really well and reached the final of the whole tournament! We were beaten by West Park in the final but, all the way through the tournament, the team batted, bowled and fielded superbly! We are really proud of you!

Friday 13 June 2025 Y4 T@TP Items - June 2025 Many, many thanks from Blue Class to all those parents/carers who bought cake and tea at Y4 T@TP earlier this summer. From the proceeds, the children chose lots of exciting items to play with when they are given a little recreation time! Friday 6 June 2025 Summer Fair 2025 A massive well done to our magnificent PTA for a wonderful Summer Fair this afternoon! Despite the fact that last minute plans had to be hatched due to all the rain this morning (and the windy conditions during the fair) it was absolutely superb! The PTA have worked so hard this year (with all the music in the mornings!) to drum up support - a big thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes and at the fair to make it a tremendous success! Friday 23 May 2025 Y3 Roman Day - May 2025 Year 3 had a great Roman day earlier this week! All of the children’s costumes looked fantastic with some ready to battle and others showing off their wealth. Throughout the day, Year 3 were able to show off their creative talents by designing a mosaic, making a clay pot, sketching emperors and designing shields. We also put our roman numeral knowledge to the test as we made a clock too. The children even acted out a roman battle.

Wednesday 21 May 2025 Y6 Residential - Lodge Hill - Day Three - May 2025 The drizzly weather did not affect the mood of Y6 today as the children approached all the activities on their final day of Lodge Hill residential with enthusiasm and perseverance.

Tuesday 20 May 2025 Y6 Residential - Lodge Hill - Day Two - May 2025 The children really excelled themselves today on an exciting, fun-filled extremely busy day here at Lodge Hill. There were lots of challenges overcome on Jacob's Ladder, Wobble Board, Abseiling, Tunnels and Archery to name but a few of the many activities today.
